Students will often play sports based upon their opportunity, rather than their love for them. For example, a student may really love baseball, but if the local students play areas are kitted out for basketball, and then there is little chance for a game of baseball.

Here are a few of the most commonly played games that students play.

Basketball is a commonly played game

This is the ideal student game because it can be played in a very small and very enclosed area. Unlike soccer or baseball where the ball could go anywhere, the basketball rarely leaves the possession of the players. Unlike football, you do not need a grassy field, nor do you need an ice rink such as with hockey. All you need is a ball, a hoop, a hard floor and just two players. Unlike other team sports, you can play basketball with just two players and still have a great match. Or you can invite more people and set up a real team game.

Squash is very popular


Again, this is one of those games that you can invite a friend to play with you, or you can

play on your own. The fun thing is that usually after three minutes of playing on your own, somebody will offer to play with you. It is a game where you need a wall and hard floor to play, but you do not need a large area.

Football is played in some schools and colleges

You will often find that people who did not make the school football team will still want to play football. You will find that impromptu games begin on the fields surrounding the college.

Frisbee games are still played

It is a cliché, the students sitting in a huddle with two playing Frisbee, or ultimate Frisbee, but it still happens. Some days are just so glorious that you have to be outside, and when all of your friends are outside, and a bunch of new faces are walking by, you want to go out and play. The likes of ultimate Frisbee never seems all that alluring, until you watch other people play it. And, all of a sudden it becomes fun and you want to play.

The bat and ball game is still popular

Hardly a sport, more of an obsession. Two people, each with an oversized table tennis bat have to keep a ball in the air. The ball is hit from one to the other, and every hit counts as a point. The goal is first to get to ten, then to fifty, then to a hundred. This is another game that sounds like it is no fun, until you try it. The level of fear and excitement that comes with almost beating your previous high score is really very intense. Students who get closer to their top score will often break out in giggles for no reason. Sometimes it is even the sound of the ball hitting the bat in rhythm that gets the students giggling.

Badminton is played more than tennis

Again, it is not that tennis is not a beloved game, and many students would love to play it, but most campuses and surrounding areas do not have a tennis court. Badminton however needs far smaller facilities. A net, rackets and a lined area is all that is needed. There is also the fact that the shuttlecock is not going to fly off for six hundred yards if the other person fails to hit it back. Tennis is still played in colleges that have a court,.but the courts are often in very high demand, and most students are unable to get as

much time on them as they would like.

Jogging is also not a sport right?

Tell that to the track team. It may not be a sport, but you are going to find that a lot of students will spend their free time running or swimming. Some students are aware that when they fall out of shape that they lose the ability to concentrate for as long. Some people are capable of massive amounts of concentration whilst being physically obese, whereas some people can miss exercise for a month and their sleep pattern becomes disturbed and they find themselves restless and unable to concentrate.
